This ring is part of the Navigational Assistance collection, inspired by the beauty and immensity of our natural world and the universe beyond it, and the instruments, like compasses and astrolabes, used by adventurers attempting to find their way through it all.
The craggy texture, reminiscent of the surface of the moon, is created out of reticulation silver. Reticulation silver has a higher percentage of copper than sterling, which makes it take on beautiful, complex textures when it is heated with a torch. The process is organic and unpredictable, and demands a light touch: not enough flame and nothing happens, too much flame and your piece ends up an indistinct blob.
8mm wide.
It is an adjustable size 7.
